Modern Day Slavery - CIPS Survey

30 May 2018      Emma Keenan, Procurement Specialist

With the estimation of nearly 46 million enslaved people in the world – modern day slavery is a heinous global crime. Supply chain managers are uniquely placed to help support in the fight against it by actively identifying the possibility of slavery within their own supply chains.

When the UK’s Modern Slavery Act was launched in 2015, CIPS surveyed the procurement community to understand the level of understanding and the extent of preparation in procurement and supply management. The results were shocking. They found that a large proportion of businesses were woefully unprepared for the requirements of the Act, neither aware of the new rules, or what their business had to do to comply. Now that the Act has been in force for several years, CIPS would like to see how things have changed in the procurement community, whether awareness and activity has increased and what supply chain managers need to do in their own fight against modern slavery.

CIPS request five minutes of your time to complete their survey and contribute to the body of knowledge to support the campaign against modern slavery. At the end of the survey, you will also be directed to some useful resources.
