The eagle-eyed amongst you will have noticed that the updated Mercer discount rate advice is now on the website (scroll to the bottom for the link and the latest information). If you are calculating your SAUL and/or USS deficit figures, you will find this useful. Please let us know what you think of the advice – whether it is informative, good benchmarking for the work you have commissioned yourself, or not much use at all. Only with feedback can we give members what they want/need!
In related news, please save the date for the 1st December 2016. This is the USS institutions’ meeting, as usual to be held at BAFTA, 195 Piccadilly in the morning. Not only is this an opportunity to hear from USS officers, but they also offer a good lunch and networking. The added bonus this year is that in the afternoon BUFDG, in conjunction with funding councils, will be explaining to a wide audience what the new SORP means for university finances, as well as discussing the financial impact of Brexit and the new HE Act. Look out for more information soon.
