Sunburn, scams, stupidity: September's alliterative counter-fraud update

As the sunburn fades, the wind picks up, and students start to dribble back onto campus it can only mean that the start of the new academic year is upon us. Unfortunately, this also means the opportunities for fraud increase and, sure enough, fraudsters are doing their best to take advantage of the new intake.

A few stories have already hit the headlines over the last few weeks. The latest sees scammers claiming to be from the Student Loan Company in order to defraud students. Remember as well that there may be thousands of new students on your campus who won’t have heard about or experienced last year’s phishing threats, and whose logins to your own internal systems will be especially vulnerable.
