HEPA Webinar – How to Complete the EMM

20 September 2017      Emma Keenan, Procurement Specialist

The Efficiency Measurement Model (EMM) Survey will open in England again this year on 1st December.  The survey asks institutions to input their efficiency data into an online tool. A report is then created which shows a range of benefits from competitive tendering activity, collaborative procurement, e-marketplaces, and purchasing cards in keeping administration costs down. This report can be used by Heads of procurement to inform their institution’s senior management teams and committees. Additionally, the cumulative sector results are used by HEFCE to inform Government.

EMM is a key component in the sector’s Procurement Maturity Assessments (PMAs). These report on how well institutions use procurement and purchasing expertise, and help embed them in institutional activities as well as supporting benchmarking activity.

A webinar, delivered by Caroline Blackman-Edney, Director of Procurement at the University of Nottingham, took place at 11am on 9th November. It detailed the background to the EMM and how to complete the survey itself. You can access that webinar via our members only resources page https://www.hepa.ac.uk/resources/efficiency/
