Welcome to Warwick

BUFDG is the professional support organisation for Finance Directors in UK higher education institutions and is proud to have 163 institutional members.

The BUFDG conference is recognised as the must-attend event of the year for Finance Directors to meet their colleagues and suppliers to the sector.

Every year around 120 Finance Directors and/or sometimes their immediate deputy will attend conference which is hosted and organised by a willing member. In 2011 the host is Rosie Drinkwater, Finance Director at the University of Warwick. You can find out more about the University by visiting the venue page.

The higher education sector is poised to undergo changes, the like of which have never been experienced before. Finance Directors will be part of those changes, helping their own staff, Vice-Chancellors and academic colleagues achieve the full potential of their institutions. Be part of the 2011 BUFDG conference and help us face the challenges together.

This year's theme is 'Making working together work'. The 2011 conference will cover topics associated with co-operation, collaboration, and collegiality, such as: shared services, collaborative research activity, sharing expertise in admin functions, raising finance, collective pay negotiations, training and development, co-habitation/location of facilities and pooled investments.

This year, we are taking a stand on corporate gifts and give-aways.  It’s not that we want to be churlish in the face of generosity, but we’d like to think there’s another way of showing we value relationships with suppliers at the same time as benefitting a worthy cause.  The cause this year is Warwick in Africa.

Warwick in Africa began as small pilot project in 2006: 12 Warwick maths students taught maths in suburban and township schools of Johannesburg, South Africa. The project has grown rapidly and in 2009, Warwick students taught in eleven schools in Alexandra and Soweto in Johannesburg and in two schools in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania reaching over 6500 learners and supporting more than 90 African teachers. The project is funded by donations from Warwick alumni and friends and foundations.
