Corporation Tax Clinic - Morning Session (9am - 1pm)

Sadly, Dr Christian Jessen won't be joining us at this event (!), but Harriet Latham and several members of the corporation tax working group are going to be hosting a half-day session to help you with the final stages of preparing your corporation tax computations. 

The clinic is not a formal training course, rather an opportunity for members to share information and experience.  It aims to help you to work through any outstanding issues which may be preventing you from submitting your corporation tax return on time.  You will have the opportunity to consider questions such as:

• how do you make a decision and document whether an activity is primary or non-primary purpose?
• are your cost and income calculations reasonable?
• have you filled in the CT600 and CT600E correctly?
• have you made adequate disclosure and is your computation presented in a user-friendly way?

Getting your corporation tax affairs up to date is going to become more crucial as HMRC integrate all aspects of tax collection, and require corporation tax compliance in order to repay gift aid claims in future.

Completion of a university corporation tax return requires a certain level of judgement - there is not always a "right" answer, and because the corporation tax guidelines are relatively untested by HMRC, it is difficult to eliminate all risk.  This event aims to give the preparers of corporation tax returns more confidence that they are taking reasonable care in preparing, documenting and disclosing the information included in their tax returns.
