2026 Financial Statements Workshops

15 May 2026      Joni Rhodes, Projects and Development Manager

Every year, the Financial Reporting Group hosts workshops to support those working in the sector involved in the preperation of financial statements. This year we've scheduled three seperate workshops covering everything you need to know.

The first workshop is our 'SORP special' on Tuesday 19 May (1-2pm), which will be hosted by Simon Cooper from KPMG's Accounting Advisory Services team (who worked with BUFDG to coordinate the development of the SORP 2026 documentation) and David Hagger, Director at PwC UK, as part of our annual financial statements workshop series. Simon will cover the potential impact of the SORP changes on statements and reporting, and David will share recommendations on stakeholder engagement. Essential viewing for those navigating the adoption of SORP 2026.

The following hour will be the usual bi-monthly FEHE SORP implementation forum, hosted by Matthew Knight (Chief Finance Officer at University of Surrey) and your booking allows you to join either or both parts of the session.

The second workshop, on 22 May (10-11.30am) will explore lessons learned from the BUFDG Financial Information, Analysis and Trends (FIAT) exercise, delving into the findings and observations from Financial Statements reviwed across the whole sector from those who gathered the data.

Finally, on 5 June (10-11.30am) the FRG's audit firm members will be conducting their usual annual Financial Statements technical review webinar, which will cover:

  • Estimates and Judgements
  • Related party disclosures – consistency and comparability
  • Key Performance Indicators
  • Asset impairment
  • Environmental sustainability and carbon reporting
  • Accounting and audit matters
  • Going Concern
  • Pension considerations
  • ISA 315
  • US Loans
  • Senior pay disclosure
  • Working well with your audit firm

There's always something new to learn, even if you have attended previous years.

Come, listen, learn, discuss.

Sessions will be recorded for catch up, but may not include the live discussion so we recommend being there on the day if you can.
