Procurement Act 2023: one year on!

03 March 2026      Ashley Shelbrooke, Procurement Specialist

Last week marked the first anniversary of the introduction of the Procurement Act 2023 - the most significant change to how the public sector buys goods and services for a generation. This is a fantastic achievement and the Cabinet Office would like to thank all stakeholders for their dedication and support to making a success of the first year under the new regime.

To give you a sense of the scale, since go-live we have seen:

  • 58,842 notices published - including for the first time 5,500 pipeline notices
  • £198 billion value of tenders published (excluding frameworks)
  • 22,012 contracts awarded (excluding frameworks)
  • £16.8 billion value of contracts awarded (excluding frameworks).

And on the Central Digital Platform we now have:

  • 3,343 registered contracting authorities,
  • 69,842 registered suppliers,
  • 104,023 registered users,
  • 428 registered consortia of suppliers.

This is a great achievement - thank you, on behalf of the Transforming Public Procurement team.
