A map of the Teesside Freeport customs site has been issued. This is the site "within Teesside Freeport, which is designated and recognised in law as a geographical area where businesses can benefit from simplified customs and VAT arrangements."

Further information has been issued regarding free ports today - both in the budget and in some general updates from HMRC.
Maps of UK Freeports - These maps show Freeport locations in the UK, their outer boundaries and the Freeport tax sites within them.
Implementation of VAT rules in free zones - this will prevent businesses, that might otherwise seek to locate in a free zone solely to avoid irrecoverable VAT, from gaining an unintended tax advantage and so helps maintain a level playing field for all.
