Making Education Digital - Distance Learning & Global VAT Registrations

20 June 2019      Harriet Latham, Tax Manager

Philip and Harriet gave us a whistle stop tour of the ever-changing rules for international sales taxes, and shared their personal experiences of how they are achieving ‘adequate compliance’ in line with their tax management strategies. Hopefully sharing their journeys will help you to set out on, or continue with, your own pilgrimage – and assist you in defining what ‘adequate compliance’ with international taxes looks like for your university.

Philip, Harriet, and Neil Turner (University of Manchester) created a spreadsheet to record their research so far and the spreadsheet is available on our website. The spreadsheet does of course come with the health warning that this is a very rapidly developing area, and so it will not always be up to date – you should therefore use this as a starting point to start your own research, and get professional advice if necessary. This is also a living document, and so if you have any countries to add, or suggestions for improvements, then do get in touch.
