You may have seen the recent news that the LUPC has completed its initial assessment against the a new international standard for sustainable procurement. That standard is the newly released ISO 20400. It supersedes, but closely follows the British Standard BS 8903:2010 (Principles and Framework for Procuring Sustainably), and applies to any type or organisation who wishes to benefit from its implementation.
It is intended for stakeholders involved in or impacted by procurement decisions and provides guidelines for organisations wanting to integrate sustainability into their procurement practices. It also incorporates most recent developments in sustainability thinking including the UN Guiding Principles on Human Rights and Business and ISO 26000.
The guidance document can be downloaded for a fee from the ISO website here.
