Research has been published this week, funded by the OfS, on student perceptions of value for money in universities. Initially trailed at the OfS launch conference a few weeks ago, the headline finding is that just 38% of students believe their course offers good value for money, but the figure rises to 54% when students were asked to consider their overall ‘investment’ in Higher Education.
Another finding was that those students asked thought that the three factors that most demonstrated VfM were the quality of teaching, fair assessment, and helpful feedback. And nearly a quarter of students felt they weren’t informed about how much everything would cost as a student – clearly more information and better communication is required.
There’s lots of coverage on the report – on Wonkhe, the Guardian, the Telegraph, and the BBC.
