09 July 2020 Matt Sisson, Projects and Membership Manager
The summer edition of the Financial Reporting Group’s newsletter comes just before the year-end of the most bizarre year. Yet as auditors start their work in earnest next month, senior management teams and governors will be thinking ahead rather than backwards – about the number of students likely to accept a place for 2020/21 and then turn up; about the going concern statement that accompanies your accounts; about how far an already stretched budget can be stretched and whether we will be in the same position this time next year.
Many words of advice have been prepared and made freely available by the audit firms, the FRC, and the accountancy institutes - we urge you to consult as many as you can. The BUFDG FRG, made up of BUFDG members, colleagues from the audit firms and regulators has been working tirelessly on issues that affect HEIs in particular, and this newsletter explains and reflects much of that hard work.
If you have any questions about anything contained in the newsletter, contact the FRG coordinator, Karen Newcombe.
