Jane Gleeson-White's book which explains the six capitals bears the sub-title “Can Accountants Save the Planet?” Prince Charles thinks they can (and should) and challenged global business leaders to "help save the world" at a recent summit to mark the 10th anniversary of The Prince of Wales's Accounting for Sustainability Project (A4S). A4S recently published Financing our Future, which is worth a read, especially if your institution has committed to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals within the university and in its supply chain. The report reveals that “less than one in three companies (30%) uses the SDGs as input for setting corporate objectives, making it difficult to turn these goals into operational strategies”. Is it time to ask whether the financial institutions you do business with are as committed as you are?
