GDPR & Data Protection Update
It is now nearly 3 years since the GDPR was enshrined in UK law, and during this time the ICO (the UK’s Data Protection Regulator) have issued significant amounts of guidance, enforcement and fines. There have also been a number of changes within the data privacy landscape following the recent Schrems II decision (July 2021) and the impact of Brexit on data transfers.
During this session, Louise Sadler, privacy specialist at BDO will walk through some of the recent updates in data privacy, as well as practical takeaways for Finance and Procurement professionals followed by a Q&A session. Louise will also offer key insights, and trends she has seen within her work with Universities in the last year.

Louise Sadler
Louise Sadler is a Privacy Specialist at BDO, and holds Certified Information Privacy Professional – Europe (CIPP/E) qualification, is a member of the International Institute of Privacy Professionals and the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors.
Louise focuses on supporting clients with achieving GDPR compliance through the delivery of GDPR compliance reviews and health checks across sectors, designing remediation plans and completing data mapping for organisations with complex data environments. Notably, Louise completed a series of post-implementation reviews with Universities in the last year.
Louise delivers bespoke Data Protection training and consultancy to clients and international organisations, and is an accredited trainer with the European Commission. Louise manages a number of clients in the UK and Europe delivering on-going GDPR compliance services.
