BUFDG is delighted that Martin Scammell, the leading expert on VAT and property, will be running two days of VAT & Property courses for BUFDG members in March. The courses will run at Burleigh Court at Loughborough University on 13 and 14 March. You can attend either day or both, as appropriate for your current level of knowledge/experience (however we generally find that either Day 1 or Day 2 would be appropriate, due to the different levels of assumed knowledge on each day).
Day 1 is: What you really need to know
Martin will review the key areas of property and construction VAT, identifying risks and opportunities, and where expert help is valuable and essential. This day is aimed at finance or estates staff with an existing working knowledge of VAT, including VAT recovery principles, non-business activities etc. who would like to widen out or refresh their knowledge in this area and learn more about land and property VAT.
Day 2 is: What you need to know has changed (again)
Martin will review recent case law and HMRC policy affecting property and construction VAT, and consider the implications for the HE sector. Topics include: caselaw implications for the CGS; remedial cladding post Grenfell; student accommodation; students unions and partial exemption; RCP annex cases; the meaning of ‘construction’; the new domestic reverse charge for building work; and more! You will get most from the day if you have a good working knowledge of VAT and property, and come along with experiences to share and discuss.
Martin is very happy to provide his Property Update (Day 2) to subscribers to his online service, VAT on Construction, Land and Property, free of charge. If you're not already a subscriber but would like to make use of the excellent 50% BUFDG discount for his online book then please take up this discount offer here. (Please note the offer of attending Day 2 for free is only available for paying subscribers, not those on the free trial). If you are a subscriber to Martin's book please contact Gill for a code to use when booking so no charge is made for Day 2 (however, due to annual leave if you need the code before 17 Dec, please contact Amanda instead). The offer of a free place on Day 2 is limited to two delegates per organisation.
Please note that overnight accommodation and evening meals are not included in the price. If you require overnight accommodation you can book directly with the venue.
