The North of England Deputy Finance Directors Meeting will take place on Wednesday 22nd November 2017 at the Foresight Centre, University of Liverpool.

10:00  Welcome from Nicola Davies if available (new FD at the University of Liverpool) and Introductions (with each attendee briefly listing their main areas of responsibility)

10:15  Transition from Deputy to Director (Rob Fekete – Staffordshire University)

11:00 Business angle: how do we deliver business grip from a corporate slant, including cash management (KPMG)

11:45 Break (Tea and Coffee)

12:00 Experiences with TM1 (University of Liverpool & University of Sheffield)

13:00 Lunch

14:00 AOB (including update on the BUFDG Training and Development Group)

14:30 Round the table discussion:

  • Incentive mechanisms in terms of ‘individuals’ or carry forward of departmental underspends (Peter Fielding – Lancaster University)
  • Month-end close down procedures including timescales, frequency, accruals, content of monthly reports, etc. (Peter Fielding – Lancaster University)
  • Managing vacancies (Anne McLaughlin – Queen’s University, Belfast)
  • Pensions (Mike Ferraby – University of Salford)
