Thursday 8th March 2018
Going back to its roots, our ever-popular introduction to the strange and complex world of VAT in Higher Education will be presented this year by its original author and presenter, Kerry Sykes of KPMG, assisted by BUFDG’s Amanda Darley.
Content: The course will explain some basic concepts, illustrate some of the situations peculiar to the HE sector, and highlight the areas of difficulty where you may need to take additional advice.
Intended Audience: The course is aimed at VAT/Tax Managers and other finance professionals who are responsible for completing the University's VAT return and/or working with professional advisers on university projects. Anyone new to the HE sector and working on VAT issues would benefit.
Date & Venue: The course will be held on Thursday 8 March at KPMG’s Birmingham office (One Snowhill, Snowhill Queensway, Birmingham, B4 6GH – map here).
Cost: £350 per delegate (inc. VAT).
Presenters: Kerry originally wrote and presented the course while Head of Tax at the University of Cambridge (where he was employed for over 17 years) and Deputy Chair of the BUFDG Tax Group, and he is now seeing the HE VAT world from an adviser’s perspective with KPMG, so all in all, he knows a thing or two about it. Amanda has been representing HE VAT issues for the past four years as BUFDG’s Tax Specialist and previously worked as the VAT Manager at the University of Oxford (for eight years) after several years as a VAT adviser.
Coffee/registration will be available from 9.30am ready for a 10.00am start and an approximate 4.30pm finish. Buffet lunch is included.
