With more muted returns from liquid markets and the return of inflation, the Higher Education sector will have significant challenges achieving real growth with investment portfolios. For investors with a long-term or perpetual time horizon an endowment investing approach is a way of diversifying sources of returns away from purely liquid strategies to look to mitigate the impact of these two key pressures.
In this session we will look at the key questions in this area. What is endowment investing? How can this approach be used by educational establishments? Is it consistent with sustainable or values-based investing? What are the stakeholder implications of this approach?
The session is specifically aimed at CFOs, Deputies, Treasurers and Investment Managers at universities/colleges with £10m+ of investible assets with a perpetual time horizon - although other institutions are welcome.
Hosted by Tom Dupernex, Head of Charities at UBS Wealth Management, and with a panel including Andy Goor, Chief Financial Officer at the University of St Andrews, Richard Turnill, Bursar at Trinity College, Cambridge, and Andrew Younger, Assistant Director of Corporate Finance, City University - the session will consider genuine university experiences of an endowment investing approach, and allow plenty of time for Q&A.
