This Route of the Procurement Journey provides Government Commercial Function (GCF) guidance for moderate to high value / risk / strategic procurements, as determined by the decision matrix.
Procurement Professionals may also find a series of useful resources on the Procurement Templates and Guides section of the BUFDG website. Resources include the UKUPC contract templates, as well as Procurement Act ready versions of the Cabinet Office 'Standard Contracts'.
In any procurement process, the key roles of budget holder and procurement officer should not be performed by the same individual. If you have any concerns regarding this, please contact your procurement department.
Consideration must be given to Planning and Risk Management throughout the Procurement Journey, and records should be kept for audit purposes. It should be noted that purchases of goods and services could be the subject of Freedom of Information requests.
The Procurement Pathway tool is not intended to replace training, and it is assumed that individuals will have been trained in the Procurement Act 2023, the procurement cycle and any applicable local procurement policies, guidelines and governance arrangements.
