Scope 3 carbon reduction: HEPA Resources

20 April 2021      Ashley Shelbrooke, HEPA and Project Specialist

You may have read this morning that the UK is preparing to commit to steeper cuts in carbon emissions in the run up to COP 26.  The announcement will include a new pledge to reduce emissions by 78% by 2035 compared to 1990 levels.

Here we highlight some of the tools and resources that HEPA has available to you and your colleagues.

HESCET

In February we were delighted to release the newly updated Higher Education Supply Chain Emissions Tool (HESCET).  The HESCET allows institutions to calculate Scope 3 emissions for monitoring and reporting purposes.  You can download the HESCET tool here.

Climate Literacy for Procurement learning

The Scottish Government has released a Climate Literacy for Procurement learning module.  The module aims to give those in procurement confidence to minimise risks and maximise opportunities associated with climate change.  Further to liaison through APUC, it has been confirmed that the Scottish Government has kindly agreed that the learning can be accessed nationally, on a UK wide basis, by colleagues across the HE sector.  You can register for and access the module here.

SDG tender & call-off questions

The UKUPC has developed a set of tender and call-off questions aligned to the UN Sustainable development Goals (SDGs) and Social Value Themes Outcomes & Measures (TOMs).  You can download the questions here.

HEPA Resources

HEPA also has a whole host of other resources relevant to your Scope 3 carbon reduction activities and responsible procurement more widely.  Don’t forget to check out:
