Sharing equipment and assets (and saving money)

05 July 2017      Matt Sisson, Projects and Membership Manager

Sharing equipment and assets with other universities (or even other departments!) is a great way of becoming more efficient. The sector-owned equipment sharing platform, equipment.data, is being pushed by Jisc at the moment, and is slowly picking up speed, with around 60 institutions sharing their databases.

If you’d like to find out more about it, there’s a blog on the Jisc website that introduces equipment and asset sharing, with links to other helpful resources, and there’s a prior article written for the BUFDG website. It covers a range of areas including making the most of your asset registers, the importance of effective customer relationship management, and evidencing VFM. If you would like to know more about equipment.data and how to get your asset database working for you, or if you have an example of best practice you would like to share, please contact Daniela at Jisc.
