VAT on overseas agents: Newcastle tribunal decision

The decision in the University of Newcastle tribunal case relating to the payment of reverse charge VAT on overseas agents' fees was released yesterday. The decision was a win for the university in relation to the pre-2010 position, but a win for HMRC for the ongoing position. We don't yet know whether either party will take this further on appeal. Kerry Sykes from KPMG has provided this note setting out some more detail of the decision.
