WELCOME!
The BUFDG Annual Meeting 2026 is the face-to-face get together for university CFOs/FDs. It's a unique opportunity to meet colleagues, share challenges, and gain high-level, H E-specific finance knowledge. This year it again takes place at the University of Birmingham's Edgbaston Park Hotel and Conference Centre, on Wednesday 29th and Thursday 30th April.
The main programme is on Thursday 30th April (running from 9am – 4pm), with an informal dinner on the evening of Wednesday 29th. As with last year, we’ll also be hosting a range of 'Fringe' meetings on Wednesday 29th for you to meet and discuss challenges with colleagues in a similar situation. These meetings include the various mission groups and the CFOs/FDs group meeting for others (session start times vary from 10.30am to 11.15am depending on agendas). Following this delegates have the opportunity to attend one of either an LGPS-, TPS-, or USS-specific session to cover pension scheme updates and issues (4pm-5pm), or free time until the evening programme commences at 6pm.
Accommodation and the informal dinner are both on site at the Edgbaston Park Hotel.
PROGRAMME
The meeting on the 30th provides the opportunity to hear from a range of excellent speakers across four in-depth plenary sessions and two breakouts, and to network and discuss with fellow CFOs. Once again, the programme is CPD-certified, contributing 6.5 hours. For more information, take a look at the programme page.
SUPPORTER / SECTOR INVOLVEMENT
Along with 120 member delegates, we will be hosting just 25-30 specifically invited delegates from the most significant sector supporters – including the major banks, auditors, and pensions advisers, and representatives from other H E organisations. They are there to contribute to the sessions and discussions and share their expertise as required. There are no stands or exhibition.
What is a bit different for this year is that NatWest and JS Group have kindly agreed to be the joint ‘Headline Sponsors’ of the event. NatWest and JS Group already support many of our institutions across the sector.
TRAVEL
As the university has its own train station, we would encourage you to travel by public transport, where possible. If you do decide to drive, then there is free parking on site. There are also several charging points - more information can be found here. Please also be aware that Birmingham has a ULEZ zone.
