Meet the Team

The BUFDG Team are based at the campus at Loughborough University. They are:

Karel Thomas – Executive Director 

Karel has worked in higher education since 1993, when she made a career change from banking and financial systems. She has been Executive Director of BUFDG since 2003, and knows a lot of people and, some say, useful information! So if you want to get involved, have an idea, or are a new Director of Finance, then be sure to get in touch.

Harriet Latham – Technical Director

Harriet qualified as an ACA and CTA with PwC (Coopers  & Lybrand) in London and Leicester and came into the HEI sector in 2007. She has been working for the BUFDG Tax Group since June 2009, moving forward sector-wide issues and providing specialist training. If you have any tax news or queries, then please send her an email.

Gill Birch – Event Coordinator

If an event is happening, then Gill is probably organising it. If you need any information about schedules or venues, or have any ideas about suitable training, then let her know.

Matt Sisson – Web and Information Manager

Matt has worked at BUFDG since 2007. He has a degree in Politics from Loughborough University but has a broad range of interests in areas from technology and sport to philosophy and gardening. He handles the website, user database, the news, weekly digest, and a whole host of other things. If you'd like to get in touch with him then drop him an email.

Daniel Wake – Graduate Intern

Daniel has taken the post of intern for one year here at BUFDG HQ. He is a Loughborough graduate with a degree in Politics with Management and an MA with distinction in Media and Cultural Analysis. He completed 6 months of his undergraduate studies at Lund University in Sweden. Daniel works with Matt on the website management and also with Harriet and Karel on the delivery of the BUFDG Procurement Academy and general procurement issues. He is hoping to gain experience in finance, communications and networking with a view to finding a career in this field. Click to email him.
